Holiday Decorating Contest in Rosemont

Journal & Topics

Rosemont’s annual Holiday Decorating Contest is now underway where local residents can display their colorful creativity and have a chance to win cash prizes.

In addition, State Rep. Brad Stephens (R-20th) will hold his own decorating contest for homeowners in the suburban and northwest Chicago portion of his district.

A “Secret Santa” judge will travel village streets on Dec. 21 to personally view each single family home, condominium and apartment that’s ablaze with exterior holiday lights and other decorations. The judge will also take into account outside window decorations. Judging will be conducted at night so participants are encouraged to have their lights activated.

Once judging is complete prizes will be awarded to the winners. For 1st place, the prize is $300, 2nd place $200, 3rd place $100, and for best condo/apartment $50.

Stephens’ contest invites residents of the 20th Legislative District to submit photos of their decorated houses, condominiums and apartments to for consideration. Members of his staff will do the judging. For Stephens, two contests will be held — one for 20th District residents who reside in Chicago, and the other for district residents who reside in the suburban areas he represents like portions of Rosemont, Des Plaines and Park Ridge.

Prizes of gift cards to local restaurants will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and place winners.
