The Village of Rosemont will deck the halls this holiday season with the debut of its second annual Nutcracker Wonderland. In partnership with NUTCRACKER! Magical Christmas Ballet, scheduled to return to the Rosemont Theatre for two special performances December 8, 25 six-foot-tall custom-painted Nutcrackers sponsored by Rosemont businesses and organizations will be on display from November 22 through December 8 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center and Rosemont Theatre.
This year, all 25 nutcrackers will be painted by high school art students from 17 Chicago area high schools. Participating high schools include Evanston High School, Glenbrook North High School, Hoffman Estates High School, Lane Tech High School, Leyden High School East/West, Maine East High School, Maine South High School, Maine West High School, New Trier High School, Niles West High School, Prospect High School, Ridgewood High School, Romeoville High School, Schaumburg High School, Schurz High School, Sullivan High School and Theodore Roosevelt High School. These students will work closely with participating sponsors on each nutcracker’s design, which will be inspired by the specific sponsor business or the holiday season.
The Village of Rosemont raised $20,000 from 2024 Nutcracker Wonderland sponsorships, which will be donated to Salute, Inc., a local non-profit organization that provides financial, physical and emotional support for injured military service members, veterans and their families.
“It is especially meaningful to see students from several area high schools contributing their artistic talents to this year’s Nutcracker Wonderland,” said Rosemont Mayor Brad Stephens. “These custom-painted nutcrackers will not only highlight the creativity of our young artists and local businesses, but they will also help us give back to the community through our partnership with Salute, Inc., supporting the invaluable services that the organization provides to veterans and their families.”

Magical Christmas Ballet. “Our unique take on the classic ballet emphasizes peace and harmony, which is embodied by the city, businesses and students involved in the Nutcracker Wonderland.”
