EMPLOYEE RETIREMENT BENEFITS

The Village has excellent retirement benefits available to all who meet the criteria. Any employee full or part-time that was hired prior
to January 1, 2011, and is enrolled with IMRF (based on their hours worked in a year) is vested after 8 years. Any employee full or
part-time that was hired on or after January 1, 2011, and is enrolled with IMRF (based on their hours worked in a year) is vested after 10 years.

In order to receive medical benefits through the Village as an IMRF employee you must be a full-time employee who has worked
the following:

  1. 20 years AND reached the age of 55 OR

  2. 13 years AND reached the age of 60 OR

  3. 10 years AND reached the age of 65

At the time of retirement, all IMRF employees and their eligible spouse and or dependents move from the Village’s Medical Plan A to Plan B or Plan E depending on their age.

A full-time Public Safety Officer is considered eligible for retirement medical benefits under their pension plan:

Tier 1 - after 20 years of service and having reached the age of 50 OR having 8 years (vested) but less than 20 years and having reached the age of 60.

Tier 2 – after 10 years of service (vested) and having reached the age of 55 OR after 10 years of service (vested) and having reached the age of 50 with a pension reduction by ½ of 1% for every month under age 55.

Upon retirement, the Public Safety Officer moves to the Village’s Medical Plan C, (which mirrors Plan A), until they reach the age of 65 and then they become Medicare primary and move to Plan B. Their eligible spouse and or dependents move to Plan C with the Public Safety employee until they reach the age of 65 or 26 respectively.

ALL EMPLOYEES MUST SIGN UP FOR MEDICARE PART A AND PURCHASE MEDICARE PART B
WHEN THEY ARE RETIRED AND TURN 65.
